It is 6PM here in East Tennessee.
The weather is remarkably similar to the weather that was occurring on July 9, 1964-the day of the crash of United 823. For the most part, the skies are clear-with the exception of large thunderheads on the other side of Camp Creek Bald, toward Asheville, North Carolina. Large clouds also are appearing toward Knoxville.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family members of those who died forty-nine years ago today.
